Life Hacks are something that has become very common on the internet. Experts who—through some out of the box thinking—have come up with ways to do difficult tasks using methods that make them much easier, are nothing less than wise-sages that are doing a great service to the world. Such people have also managed to find house cleaning hacks and millions of people are grateful to them for it.

“Being Adult” can be really tough. The fact that millennials managed to come up with this very term to describe doing anything that is requires them to be responsible, just shows how much they dislike doing anything like that.

While everyone would love to live in a world where they can spend all their time having fun, at the end of the day we all take charge of our lives and that involves taking on responsibilities. Growing up is a part of life and everyone just had to accept it eventually.

Everyone hated it when they were teenagers and their parents asked them to clean their room. It was a chore that most teens felt completely unnecessary as they found beauty in the mess they had made. It is only when people enter their twenties that they start to realize the value of having a well-organized and clean home. Suddenly everyone starts getting the urge to keep their surroundings clean at all times, however, this doesn’t really make the task of actually cleaning the house any easier or fun.

So here are 10 extremely useful amazing house cleaning hacks that you can use to make cleaning day a lot better.

  1. Lemons and the garbage disposal!

Lemons are seriously underrated. Not only do they give great food a slight tinge that is so amazing, but they are also great for cleaning and sanitizing. The first thing you should do when cleaning day begins is to sanitize the place that suffers the most throughout the year, the garbage disposal.

An unclean garbage disposal can cause some very serious problems down the line and the simplest way to keep it clean is to use lemons to sanitize it completely. This will not only clean the garbage disposal but will also give it a great aroma.

  1. The sink needs unclogging!

Once the garbage disposal is all done, it’s time to head to the food factory of the house. All kinds of weird liquids and stuff go through the sink whenever the dishes are cleaned and while it takes some time, the sink starts to get clogged. Even if your sink hasn’t completely clogged yet, it’s a great practice to regularly clean it to ensure that it never gets to that point.

A combination of baking soda and vinegar can do wonders for you when you’re trying to engage in this, not-so-fun, activity and completely unclog the sink.

  1. The irony of the dishwasher!

If you own a dishwasher then you just have to accept that the dishwasher needs to be washed. While it is rather ironic that something with the word “washer” in it needs to be washed is, it is nevertheless extremely important to do so. Washing dishes every day can put a toll on the dishwasher and the little bits of the residue remain insides it even after draining, keep on accumulating.

These remains need to be cleaned out at regular intervals once again using vinegar is the best and easiest way to get this job done.

  1. Coffee Filters:- More than meets the eye!

Everyone knows that the easier way to brew coffee nowadays is to use coffee filters. Cheap, quick and neat, they are a great tool for coffee lovers all over the world but they have an alternative use as well. Turn out they do a great job when they are used for screens. Using a coffee filter to clean your TV might sound ridiculous at first but it’s really hard to argue with the results once you try it out. Any screen can be cleaned nicely and in very little time using a coffee filter.

  1. A salty hack for the iron!

Ironing is something that a lot of people hate more than they hate cleaning. As such the idea of cleaning the iron itself can make even the most motivated of cleaners lose their will to exist. However, cleaning the iron is extremely easy if you know this hack and all you need is a piece of paper and some salt.

Running the heated iron over a piece of paper that has salt on it can clean the iron in a single go. This is not only the easiest way of cleaning your iron but also the fastest and safest.

  1. Using the headlines!

The refrigerator is probably the most important object in the kitchen. However, the food that spends hours—sometimes days—inside it, can leave behind its smell and when it gets fixed with the odors of all the other dishes, the fridge can start to reek.

Newspapers might be going out of fashion but an unorthodox use that people have found for them is using them as a great tool to absorb all the smell inside in the fridge, making cleaning it a much more appealing task.

  1. The forks and the spoons

Cleaning the cutlery might seem like something that gets done quite well just by using the normal dish soap. While the soap does remove the food and the germs sticking to the forks and spoons, it also removes the shine they have when they are new. Using baking soda to wash them can go a long way in restoring and maintaining their shine, making them look brand new for an extended period of time.

  1. More than just a toothbrush

While a toothbrush has a very important primary use, it also has so many other uses that throwing one out just because it’s not good enough for cleaning your teeth is a waste of money. A toothbrush can use used to clean anything from small stains on the walls to give your laptop keyboard a thorough rub to remove all the dirt and stains that accumulate on it with regular usage.

  1. Lemons and the bathroom.

A bathroom is a place where people clean themselves and as such the bathroom itself must be clean at all times. Water stains can develop on all the faucets in just a few months of regular usage which can give the bathroom a very full feel to it. Lemons can use used to bring the shine back to the faucets in a very easy and convenient way by spilling rubbing them on the stained area.

This can restore the bathroom to just the way it was when it was first set up and that alone makes the effort and time that is required to do this seem perfectly worthwhile.

  1. A Sock and vinegar

Window blinds act as true saviors from sunlight in rooms that face towards the east. Cleaning these blinds is extremely important as untidy blinds are really easy to spot. Vinegar can be used to clean all the blinds in the house by pouring in on an old sock and just wiping the blinds quickly and lightly.
